Central Valley: two kinds of painting job

Central Valley sits in the Town of Woodbury at the NY-32 and Route 17 junction, and it's defined as much by the Woodbury Common retail corridor as by its residential streets. That gives us an unusual mix here: quiet older homes on one side of the highway and a genuine commercial retail environment on the other.

On the residential side, the housing runs older than the county average — a lot of pre-war homes and mid-century builds around the hamlet center, with plaster walls, original wood trim and paint histories that go back far enough to warrant lead-safe handling. Those houses reward proper plaster assessment and skim coating rather than a quick coat over cracks that will reopen by spring.

On the commercial side, retail and hospitality spaces in this corridor cannot afford daytime closures. We schedule that work overnight and on weekends as a matter of course — see commercial painting.

How the work splits in Central Valley

On the residential side of the highway, the older houses near the hamlet center bring three recurring jobs. Interior painting in rooms with original wood trim, where the old finish has to be cleaned and scuffed so the new coat bonds. Cracked plaster, which goes through our drywall and plaster repair service before anything is painted. And exterior repaints on houses carrying many layers of old paint, scraped and primed lead-safe.

On the retail side, commercial painting for stores, restaurants and hospitality spaces is planned overnight or across a weekend, and fit-out work can run alongside it through commercial renovations. Homeowners here also ask about cabinet refinishing and deck staining; the rest is on our services page.

Getting a Central Valley estimate

We're a few minutes along Route 32 from Highland Mills, so a site visit is easy to arrange for a house or a business. For commercial spaces, tell us your opening hours when you call; we'll walk the space when it won't disturb customers and can quote the work in phases if that suits you better. Phone (845) 544-3120 or request a visit online.

Questions

Central Valley — common questions

Regularly. Central Valley is a few minutes from our Highland Mills base, and we paint homes on the residential streets as well as shops and hospitality spaces along the retail corridor.

Each job is quoted from what we see on the walk-through: how high the ceilings are, how much trim and detail there is, and the condition of the surfaces. Older homes with cracked plaster or a heavy build-up of paint need more prep, and that shows in the number. Our interior painting cost guide and exterior cost guide give typical ranges.

That's the usual arrangement. We work after closing and at weekends, leave the sales floor clean at the end of each shift, and agree the phasing in writing before we start. More detail on commercial painting.

Of course. We're covered by general liability and workers' compensation policies, and our insurer can send a certificate directly to you — or to your landlord or property manager if they ask for one.

An assessment first. Cracks in plaster are cut out and taped so they don't reappear the next season, loose areas are re-secured, and if the house predates 1978 any sanding or scraping follows the EPA's lead-safe work practices. See our guide to lead paint safety.

Interior work is the easier to fit in, especially in winter; exterior jobs book furthest ahead in spring and early fall. Call and we'll give you a straight answer on our next opening.
